Router-Recovery does not store, cache, mirror, or rebuild OpenWrt firmware. Use the official Firmware Selector, then verify the exact model, hardware revision, target, image type, version, and checksum before flashing.
Verified July 24, 2026. OpenWrt 25.12.5 is the current stable release, while 24.10.7 is the old-stable maintenance release. Snapshot is a separate development channel, not a newer stable release.
RECOMMENDED FOR MOST USERS
The current stable series is intended for ordinary supported installations and normally includes LuCI when the device image has enough space.
Use stable for a home router unless the exact device page says otherwise.DEVELOPMENT BUILD
Snapshots follow active development, are generally untested, may change between builds, and prebuilt images do not include LuCI by default.
Use Snapshot only when you understand SSH administration or the device has no stable build.Match the complete device name, hardware revision, target, subtarget, and profile.
Use factory, sysupgrade, initramfs, or recovery images only for the installation stage documented for the exact device.
Read the device page and current release notes before deciding whether configuration may be preserved.
Verify the filename and checksum shown by the official source; a similar filename does not prove compatibility.
A Snapshot may boot normally and answer over Ethernet or SSH even though no web administration page appears. Preserve any access that still works. Check the current IP and SSH before using failsafe, Web Recovery, or TFTP.
