TP-Link Archer AX55 Web Recovery on Mac: Firmware Upgrade Page Checklist

Use this page to identify the local Firmware Upgrade Web Recovery page on an Archer AX55. This is not a standard TFTP page and not NETGEAR NMRP.

If your AX55 looks stuck after a firmware problem, slow down first: confirm the model and hardware version, use a wired Mac connection, set the temporary Mac IP to 192.168.0.10 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0, enter recovery mode with Reset while powering on, then look for the local page at http://192.168.0.1. Reaching that page is only recovery-entry evidence. It is not proof that firmware upload or router recovery has succeeded.

Recovery Parameters

Before you start, confirm these parameters match the device, firmware file, and recovery flow.

Evidence Summary

Observed unitPhysical label: Archer AX55(CA), Ver: 1.0. Web UI hardware version: Archer AX55 v1.0.
Firmware baselineOfficial online update changed the router from 1.3.1 Build 20240129 rel.57815(4341) to 1.5.11 Build 20251119 rel.49503(4341).
Normal network baselineAdmin address stayed 192.168.0.1. DHCP stayed enabled with 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.253.
Backup baselineA configuration backup was created before the official update. The backup binary is private and is not published on this site.
Language / region cluesThe unit label indicates CA market. Traditional Chinese UI was available; Simplified Chinese was not observed in the language list.
Recovery observationWith Mac Ethernet set to IP 192.168.0.10 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0, holding Reset while connecting power led to ping response around 29 seconds and the local Firmware Upgrade page at 192.168.0.1.
What was not testedNo firmware file was selected or uploaded. TFTP direction, upload acceptance, write success, configuration retention after recovery upload, and other AX55 regions remain unconfirmed.

Official vs observed evidence

TP-Link FAQ 1482 is treated as Archer AX series Web Recovery background, not as AX55-specific proof by itself. The AX55-specific part on this page comes from the observed AX55(CA) v1.0 unit and stops at recovery-page entry.

Recovery Entry Checklist

Prepare the Mac and router before you touch any firmware file. The goal is to see the local upload page, not to rush into uploading.

1

Use Ethernet

Connect the Mac directly to the AX55 LAN side. Disable or ignore Wi-Fi for this check so the browser and ping use the wired path.

2

Set Mac Static IP

Set Ethernet to 192.168.0.10 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Do not wait for DHCP during recovery entry.

3

Hold Reset + Power

Power off, hold Reset, connect power while still holding Reset, then release after the recovery LED pattern appears. In the observed run, a middle orange LED appeared about 6 seconds after power.

4

Open 192.168.0.1

Run ping 192.168.0.1. When it responds, open http://192.168.0.1 and look for the plain Firmware Upgrade page.

What Router Recovery Should Help With

Useful App roleBoundary
Guide the Mac-side preparation: wired interface, temporary static IP, local ping, and page-check sequence. The firmware upload still happens in the TP-Link browser page, not as an automatic App POST.
Help the user stop at the right signal: the local Firmware Upgrade page. The App should not choose the firmware file or claim that the router has been recovered.
Record a stable checklist before the user proceeds.Official firmware selection remains the user's responsibility and must match model, hardware version, and region.

Risk Boundary Before Uploading Firmware

Do not treat page access as recovery success

The observed AX55 session only proved that the local Web Recovery page can appear on this AX55(CA) v1.0 unit. It did not test whether a firmware file is accepted, written, rebooted, or whether settings are preserved after an upload.

  • Confirm the exact model and hardware version before selecting any file.
  • Use an official TP-Link firmware source matching the purchase region where possible.
  • Do not power off during an actual upload/write process.
  • Keep the configuration backup private and available before risky testing.

AX55 Web Recovery FAQ

Why is this not a TFTP page?

The observed AX55 path opened a browser-based Firmware Upgrade page at 192.168.0.1. No TFTP request or transfer was proven in this observation.

Is 192.168.0.1 universal for all TP-Link recovery?

No. It is the observed normal and recovery address for this AX55(CA) v1.0 unit. Other TP-Link models and recovery methods can use different addresses or filenames.

Can I upload firmware as soon as the Firmware Upgrade page appears?

Only after separately confirming the official firmware file, hardware version, and region. This page intentionally stops at page detection because upload acceptance and write success were not tested.

Is AX55(CA) the same as other AX55 region versions?

Do not assume that. The tested unit was labeled AX55(CA) Ver:1.0 and showed Archer AX55 v1.0 in the UI. Other regions or hardware revisions need their own evidence.
